We currently staff 2 fire stations in a suburban to urban setting, working cooperatively within a county-wide system with a closest-unit first response agreement. Longwood Fire Department (LFD) is one of four municipal fire departments along with the Seminole County Fire Department providing this service in Seminole County, Florida. LFD operates 2 Engine Companies and 3 Rescues (transport ambulances) on a 24 hr. basis. All Engines and Rescues are Advanced Life Support equipped and certified. LFD's first due area is approximately 15 sq. mi. which includes areas outside of our municipal boundaries. Shift Operations are supervised by the LFD Battalion Chief. The LFD Battalion Chief has responsibilities beyond the City as he or she may be dispatched throughout the County to fulfill a NIMS Command Position, Function or role. LFD recently earned a Class 2 rating from the ISO and is working to expand operations as the City of Longwood is being redeveloped as a Transportation Oriented Destination
