Company Overview

Our District is governed by a five-member Board of Fire Commissioners elected by residents of the District. The District is managed by the Fire Chief and is supported by other staff personnel.

We are a Department with 30 Firefighters/EMS (Paramedics and EMTs), 8 staff and support personnel.

Company History

Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District was established in 1951 as a volunteer organization for Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. In 1953 as the Indian Rocks Special Fire Control District our organization was established by Charter of the Florida Legislature as an Independent Special Fire Control District. Over the next few years, the towns of Indian Shores, Belleair Beach, and Belleair Shore and an area of the unincorporated county was added to the District expanding the organization. In 2000, the organization's name was changed to Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue to encompass our entire area.

Florida Association of Special Districts (FASD) "District of the Year 2013."

Retirement is through the Florida Retirement System. A 457 Deferred Compensation Plan is available.
