The Villages Public Safety Department is relatively young, as it began operation October 1, 1999. During the intervening period, the department has grown rapidly and developed into a respected, contributing member within the emergency services community. Accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, the department is built upon the over-arching philosophy of customer service and the desire to provide the community we have been charged to protect with high quality emergency medical and fire protection services. There are six fire stations with a new station under construction, serving a growing population of 84,000 residents.

Company History

The Villages Public Safety Department is a very new, but rapidly growing fire department. Established in 1999, with just nine firefighters and one fire chief, the Department currently operates from six stations, staffed 24 hours per day. Staffing for the department includes 79 full-time firefighters, firefighter/medics or firefighter/EMTs. Seventy-two of these personnel are deployed to three-platoons/shifts with 24 personnel per shift. The department is expected to grow to 93 total personnel by the end of the 2012 fiscal year.
